The movie thread...

So, Dan and I have been watching a lot of movies lately. (No, the sex life is JUST fine, thank you for asking). Last night we finally watched Minority Report. I have to say, and I rarely ever say this, the movie was better than the short story. I mean, I like Phillip K. Dick, but sometimes he gets caught up in the mechanics of how the world works, and seems to ignore the people in his worlds. The movie focused much more heavily on the people in the story, and to my mind, that made a better story in the end.

So, what have you guys been watching?

I took Tony and Tiara to see DAREDEVIL last week. I thought it was good. Besides the other comic-movies coming out, I'm interested in seeing the remake of WILLARD.

By the way, did anyone see the last FRIDAY THE 13TH movie, Jason in space? What was your take on it?

Daredevil
Final Destination 2 (The feel good movie of the year. Laughed my patookis off)
Sweet Home Alabama (something about Reese Witherspoon doing high class trailer trash just did it for me)
Loaded Weapon 1 (Still a great movie)

Jason X.. I liked it. It was hilarious, not scary, and seemed to mock itself. I enjoyed it. So did Jenny, so it gets 2 bloody hatchets up.

It's actually been months since I first saw it, but I intend to introduce others to it tonight, so it counts. Calling it a movie is misleading. It's just images and music, but it's beautiful.I saw it on campus and the whole crowd was just buzzing with this incredible energy we didn;t know what to do with when we got out. Nobody wanted to go home, but there was nothing left to say. I wandered aroud looking at stars instead, and made a new friend of someone doing the same. It's that kind of movie.

I've seen Lilo and Stitch probably 6 times now.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Sorority boys. One features a man with a problematic sex change... the other features three men gender bending... *shrugs* So I like androgynous men. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

We watched More Dogs Than Bones last night, which is sort of a screwball crime caper movie, only with more of a morality play ending than both. It was actually quite fun to watch... especially to see Whoopi Goldberg as a "bit part" playing the most sensible and reasonable person in the entire movie. Definately would recommend it.

Oh, and I will maintain till the day that I die that Lilo and Stitch is the most perfect movie that Disney will ever make. Period.

Saw Chicago the other day. Also saw About Schmidt a couple weeks ago. I HIGHLY recommend Chicago. Great performances (you gotta see Queen Latifa). I also liked About Schmidt, but don't think it's for everyone. Very slow-moving. Though it's worth watching Kathy Bates. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

Haven't seen Minority Report yet. I read the short story (liked it) but don't understand why that story would be made into a movie.

Well, they take the basic foundation of the story, the precogs who can see crimes being commited in the future, some of the main characters, and then write an entirely different story around it. It's nothing like the original story at all.

What's a movie? Last one I saw was Catch Me If You Can last month and that was after it had been out for a number of weeks already...So many movies so little time...and I really want to see the Quiet American still...
